Exploration fun in Switzerland

While it is still cold and snowy in Finland, spring is kicking in in Switzerland. Therefore it was time for Markus to take a bit of exploration around and look for some new cliffs. The result was 14 new jumps in 2 weeks with the famous world champion Rami Kajala from Finland. Check out the vid from here

Tunnel season is starting

Okay, I think it is time to wrap the skydiving season pretty soon here in Finland. The weather is starting to show the signs that the winter is only few months away, as it’s been raining A LOT during the last few weeks. So it is time to head for the windtunnel! Both competition team and the crew (Putki and Juhis) have already some tunnel-plans made for the winter.

Anyway, while it’s raining we’re also working on full summer-season compilation video. It should be ready in few weeks, but while waiting for it, check out Kim’s sweet edit from the Voss Freefly festival! Nice one Kim.

Good times at VFF 2011

Whoah, end of the boogies for this summer, and not a bad way to end it in Norway. Again the weather forecast was showing pure rain for the boogie but we ended up getting mostly sun for the whole week.

Putki was freeflying his ass off and got some sweet jumps under while Juhis spent most of his time enjoying the Norwegian scenery on the mountains. All in all, we love Voss Freefly Festival.. See you next year!

Voss Freefly Festival 2011

It has been quite an season already (Nordic Bigways, Finnish and Nordic Record, Mid-summer boogie, Pimp my Fly, Nordic Sequentials) and probably one the most anticipated boogies this year starts tomorrow, Voss Freefly Festival.

From UFU-crew Putki and Juhis will participate the boogie this year. Looking for some sweet flying and mountain swooping during the next week.

Putki was diligent (while Juhis has been lazy, still trying to finish the Sequentials video) and made a short compilation from some of the jumps that we’ve made this summer, enjoy. More to come later.

Next up, Pimp my fly and the Nordic Sequentials boogies!

Halfway through the summer and two big boogies happening at the same time (what a shame). From UFU-crew Putki will be organizing at the PMF-boogie like on all the previous years, while Juhis took a little change and will be participating the Nordic Sequentials.

Expectations are high for the both boogies, so wait for the updates during/after the boogies in this space!

I was supposed to put an AWESOME video from the midsummer-boogie here but, the boogie turned out to be more about partying rather than jumping so… check out the few fun jumps from last Thursday instead. :)

Nordic record boogie was a blast!

Nordic Record Boogie 2011
The boogie is over, and I think all participants can agree on one thing, boogie was a blast. Thank you to all the organizers for the great jumps and Skydive Spain for bringing in three Dorniers.

The weather co-operated perfectly during the boogie and the Finns and Norwegians managed to beat their current national records, and on Friday new (unofficial) Nordic Record was set (39-way). Next year, let’s make it even bigger!

Håvard already made a nice video from the record jump (including couple of the warm up jumps).

New Finnish headdown records (18- and 20-way)

The Finns have made a new vertical record in Seville (Skydive Spain) 1.6.2011. The planes used for the record were two Dornier Do 28 G.92′s, and the exit altitude was 4700 meters.

First the Finns started with a 18-way formation and they got it built on their first jump. Kuri from team Babylon was filming the jump. He was a little bit amazed that who are these skydivers who do their national record on a first jump.

After this jump it was time to go bigger. Finns made two attempts with the 20-way and the second try was a great success. Here is the picture of the 20-way (Picture by Rolf Kuratle).

Current Finnish headdown record, 20-way

We got eager after completing the 20-way so easily and decided to give a go for a 22-way. We tried it once and while it wasn’t that far away from succeeding you could see that people weren’t too focused anymore. It was decided that we’ll leave something for the next year and started to celebrate the new records!

Misko made a nice edit from the record-jumps of the day. Enjoy.
